35 More LBG Branches To Close

Updated: Jun 26

Lloyds Banking Group today announced plans to close another 18 Lloyds, 15 Halifax, and 2 Bank of Scotland branches throughout the country.

The latest tranche brings the total number of branches announced for closure in 2023 to 208! Unite continues to oppose branch closures due to the real impact these closures have on local businesses, communities and the most vulnerable in society who truly depend on these services and will now face big inconveniences to their face-to-face banking needs.

We are pleased that there will be no job losses on the back of these latest closures with impacted workers either remaining in the branch network or moving to other customer channels following 1:1 conversations around their personal circumstances.

Unite continues to push for job security and mobility throughout LBG and have pressed for an increase in the range and number of opportunities available via the career mobility Sharepoint site to ensure colleagues have a range of exciting and meaningful opportunities to choose from.

We urge members impacted by this announcement to get in touch with us if they need any help or assistance.

In solidarity - Your Unite in LBG team
